Levee on the Lake takes place on the unceded ancestral lands of the Mi’kmaq people
LEVEE ON THE LAKE RETURNS TO SILVER LAKE IN 2021 WITH AN EAST COAST MUSIC NOMINATION FOR EVENT OF THE YEAR IN 2020
When the live music industry was decimated in 2020 due to the global pandemic, we created Levee on the Lake to employ as many cultural workers as possible. We raised $101,000 in 2.5 months from sponsors and government alike and created a paddle up stage in rural Sackville, NB. With our partners SSI and JEM Productions on staging, lights and sound production along with countless volunteers; we became one of the only stages to open that summer in The Maritimes, let alone Canada.
We believed very strongly that live music is important and indeed possible during COVID 19. We still do. So here we "row" again.
As we head into a second summer of restricted live shows we have adapted (and will continue to), to support live stages, artists and audiences here in Sackville, New Brunswick. We will have one free 5 hour levee Saturday (site maps coming soon), a free Sunday evening session as well as 3 ticketed evenings from August 19 - 22 in historic Middle Sackville. We are also offering three days of FREE cultural workshops, so families can participate in the arts and learn some of our amazing traditional music. We have to be fluid in our planning and so we ask for your patience. And your support.
If restrictions are lifted, we will add more tickets...if they are tightened we will cancel with 100% refunds. We will continue to build the finer details of the event over the next few months, such as parking, food vendors, more activities etc as we respond to public safety and government guidelines for gathering.
Right now we anticipate with our new location, we can safely gather people outside in boats and on land (bring a lawn chair) to watch the MainStage on Saturday August 21st as well as other events. Levee on the Lake is about the spirt of music and resilience in our community. We are proud to combine with Triathlon NB who will have their race in the morning leading into our MainStage FREE levee at 12:30. We encourage people to cycle, hike, walk or paddle to our events and keep Sackville beautiful and green.
It's going to be a safe celebration with limited capacity and unlimited joy.
See you in August because THE SHOW MUST ROW ON!
